Authorities arrest suspect in Monroe Co. carjacking

PERRYSBURG, Ohio (WTVG) - A Shelby Township, Mich., man has been arrested in connection with a carjacking that happened Wednesday afternoon.

Police found the victim’s vehicle Thursday evening in Perrysburg. The Lake Township Police and Ohio State Highway Patrol began investigating, which led to the arrest of a 34-year-old man, who has not been identified.

The carjacking happened around 3:30 p.m. Wednesday when a woman was sitting in her car near the front entrance of the 7-Eleven/Marathon gas station at 14495 Laplaisance Road just before 3:30 p.m. She was approached by a man, who knocked on her window. He quickly opened the door and pulled the woman from the car, fleeing south on Albain Rd.

The car is a turquoise 2020 Toyota Camry with Ohio license plates, with damage to the front end.

The 55-year-old victim, a Monroe woman, was taken to a Toledo hospital with minor injuries.
