WHITEHOUSE, Ohio (WTVG) - An Anthony Wayne High School student is making history as the newly elected president of Ohio’s FFA. Jacob Zajkowski was elected president of the Future Farmers of America in April.

FFA is a statewide program that’s focused on agricultural education. It boasts a membership of more than 26,000 in the student-run organization.

Zajkowski is now one of the first students from northwest Ohio to serve as the state president.

“We aren’t just farmers,” Zajkowski said. “We are researchers, we are engineers, we are communicators to further the path and further the mission of the agriculture industry.”

Anthony Wayne agriculture teacher Whitney Short said, “We teach STEM, agriscience, business. We try to cover a lot of topics where students can find something that they enjoy.”

Zajkowski plans to one day open his own greenhouse after studying plant science at Cornell University in New York.
