Ohio Secretary of State reports 99.98% accuracy rate in 2020 presidential election
COLUMBUS, Ohio (WTVG) - The Ohio Secretary of State has released results of county post-elections audits, and in counties that utilized a percentage-based audit, results show a 99.98% accuracy rate in the presidential election.
“Early last year we set a clear mission -- that Ohio voters would be confident their voice was heard in an honest election,” Secretary of State Frank LaRose said. “The incredible accuracy of the results as reflected in the post-election audits should make every Ohioan proud not only of their bipartisan election officials but of the system we have in place. Ohio ran a fair and accurate election.”
In Lucas County, 10,161 ballots were audited with a 99.94% accuracy rate. Erie, Ottawa, and Wood counties reported a 100% accuracy rate. A link to the post-election audit spreadsheet may be found on the Secretary of State’s website.
For the General Election, county boards of election were required to audit the presidential contest; contest of Justice of the Supreme Court; and one countywide contest selected by the board of elections.
A post-election audit is a comprehensive review of the results of one or more contests in an election to ensure that the results reported by the board of elections are accurate.
